Our little town of Troy, IA has some interesting history. There were settlers here in 1834--that was four years before the Sacs, Sioux, and Iowa Indians signed treaties giving settlers the right to be here. The first Methodist church in the county was organized in 1846. After that building burned, a new one was built and dedicated in 1924.

President Born In Illinois

On February 6, 1911 in Tampico, Illinois, Ronald Wilson Reagan was born to Nelle & John Reagan.

St. Patrick's day is March 17th and one place that you are bound to find the luck of the Irish is Saint Patrick, Mo.  From Ireland many immigrants came to America to start a new life, bringing their customs, music and faith along with them. The descendants of Irish immigrants founded the town of Saint Patrick, MO (Named after the patron of Ireland, Saint Patrick) in 1833.

Greenfield, IA is the home of one of Iowa's treasures, The Freedom Rock!

 

The Freedom Rock is the patriotic work of Ray "Bubba" Michael Sorensen II. Ray was born in Creston, IA on August 13th, 1979. As a toddler, Ray received his nickname "Bubba" for being a chubby baby and the name stuck. While attending Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, IA, Bubba was inspired by the movie "Saving Private Ryan" and wanted to find a way to "Thank you to those who've served our great county".
